  • Grace Marie Schesser, 76, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Mo., following an extensive and courageous battle with cancer.

  • Grace Marie Schesser, 76, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Mo., following an extensive and courageous battle with cancer.
    Grace was born at Lake Hamilton, Fla. on Dec. 2, 1936 to the late Robert Berry and Annie Marie Grubbs.  
    She graduated from high school and later attended cosmetology school. She married William Edward Schesser on Nov. 8, 1957, after meeting him on Aug. 8, 1957. Three children were born to this union.  
    Grace was a member of Grace Episcopal Church; P.E.O.; and Episcopal Church Women. She was a loving wife, mom, teacher, legal advisor, mediator, motivator, support, and cheerleader.  Grace spent 23 years as a military wife, taking care of her children and her husband who was flying around the world about 50 percent of the time.
    She was a woman of love and service to God, and the love of God shone and radiated from her in many ways.
    Grace was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Williams; and by two brothers, Thomas Grubbs and Fred Grubbs.
    She is survived by her husband, William Schesser of their home; her children, Diane Marie Burnison and her husband, Howard, of Carl Junction, Mo., William Edward Schesser, II and his wife Mery, of Orlando, Fla., and Melinda Mae Estes, and her husband, Ted, of Carthage, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends who will miss her very much.
    Visitation will be 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at Knell Mortuary.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Grace Episcopal Church with Father Steve Wilson and Father Ted Estes officiating.  Interment will be in Park Cemetery under direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, Mo., in lieu of flowers in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
