  • Gerald Lee Curry, 84, passed away Dec. 13, 2012 at Mt Vernon Veterans Home.
    Gerald was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Carthage, Mo., to Olga “Harp” Curry and Joe Curry Sr. Gerald was a longtime Carthage resident, moving to Webb City after he retired to be closer to his grandkids. He was a truck driver and owned and operated Hot-Shot pick up service then went to work for Jones Truck Lines from 1967to 1991 retiring in 1991.  Gerald was in the navy from 1948-1952 where he was in the Korean Conflict. Gerald was a faithful member of the Bible Baptist church in Carthage Mo from 1965 to 1991. In 1991 he joined the Prairie Flower Bible Church in Webb City, Mo., and was very active and dedicated member until he was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease, as the disease progressed he was unable to attend.
    Gerald was united in marriage to Wilma Henry Nov. 26, 1959 in Carthage, Mo., she survives. Gerald is survived by two daughters Guyla Curry of Webb City Mo., and Denise Curry Poulson of Webb City, Mo., three grandchildren Zac Anderson, Brooke Erwin, and Trey Poulson, two sisters Agnes Waisner of Carthage and Pat Houston of Carthage. Gerald was preceeded by his parents, two brothers Joe Curry Jr., and Albert Curry, one sister Alice Owens. Gerald was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed it and was very generous. In honor of him, his family has decided to donate his body to science for the study of Alzheimer’s in hopes of finding a cure for this debilitating disease. This research will not only help his own family but help others and his legacy of being a giver will live on forever. Memorial Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at the Ulmer Funeral Home.
