Bicycling and Walking Around

My bicycle is our second car. I love to bicycle in all weather, for all distances, and on all routes. Bicycling has brought so much joy to my life, and I want to share it with anyone who is interested. I will use my soapbox to tell you about the joys, the freedom, the benefits, and, yes, the challenges of bicycling and walking for transportation.

Scully is back!

Ten years after the end of The X-Files, star Gillian Anderson is returning to U.S. broadcast TV on the upcoming NBC thriller Hannibal, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Anderson, 44, will play Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, the therapist of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), in a multi-episode arc.

"Every therapist needs their own head examined and we are ecstatic that Gillian Anderson has chosen Hannibal to mark her return to American television after 10 years to portray Dr. Lecter's personal psychiatrist," Hannibal's creator and executive producer Bryan Fuller said in a statement to the magazine. "Her intelligence and sophistication, not to mention her pedigree of groundbreaking TV, make her the perfect actress to match wits and psychological manipulations with one of the greatest villains of pop culture. I couldn't be more excited."

Anderson rose to fame and earned an Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama for playing Agent Scully on The X-Files. Since the end of the sci-fi series, she has appeared in the Encore miniseries Moby Dick and in the British series The Fall.

Anderson joins Hannibal's already impressive casting, which includes Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne, Eddie Izzard and Gina Torres, among others.

No premiere date has been announced for Hannibal, but it could debut as soon as this spring.
