Charles William Lewis, age 87, of Clinton, Mo., passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, Mo.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Warrensburg Veterans Home-Canteen Fund and can be left in care of the funeral home. Farming and truck driving were Charles' life. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2590 in Carthage, Mo., and also a member of the Carthage Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Harvey and Mildred (Parks) Lewis, his wife Wanda, one daughter, Pamela Lewis, one sister, Nellie Hendricks, and one brother, Leroy Lewis.
Charles is survived by his son, Ted Lewis and wife, Veda of Carthage, Mo.; two daughters, Brenda Jones and husband, Thomas of Clinton, Mo., and Denise Winkler and husband, Art of Overland Park, Kan.; three brothers, Billy Dean Lewis of Scott City, Kan., Marvin Lewis of Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Edgar Lewis of Clinton, Mo.; five sisters, Ethel Lewis of Hilltop, Texas, Helen Hatfield and husband, Edwin of Clinton, Mo., Anna Lee James of Adrian, Mo., Martha Minks of Independence, Mo., and Dorothy Hetherington of Peculiar, Mo., nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
