William H. “Bill” Wilson, 81, Carthage, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 07, 2012 at his home after a long illness.
William Howard Wilson was born Aug. 25, 1931 in Clarendon, Ark., the son of Riley Harold Wilson and Jimmie Viola (Morris) Wilson. He was a 1950 graduate of Star City High School, Star City, Ark., and attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla., for two years.
He married Jo Anne Pitts on Dec. 25, 1953 in Hot Springs, Ark; she survives.
Bill was trained as a mechanical engineer and was the owner/operator of Wilson Service Co., Carthage, heating and air conditioning repair, for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Bill was an ordained Missionary Baptist minister and attended the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, on east Highway 96.
Additional survivors include a son, Joseph Howard Wilson, and wife, Luanne, Carthage; two sisters, Beverly Ruth Harris, Forest City, AR and Maizie P. Ballard, Hickory Ridge, AR; one brother, Harold M. Wilson, Greenfield, MO; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William J. “Bud” Wilson and a brother, James Riley Wilson.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, east of Carthage. Ministers Johnny Brewster and Danny Young will officiate.
