Eva Mae Harris, 91, Carthage, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, following an extended illness.
Eva was born Oct.12, 1921 to the late Joseph Glenn Nelson and Eula Mae (Jackson) Nelson. She married Eugene J. Harris on Aug. 11, 1938 in Girard, Kan., and they moved to Carthage, Mo., in 1939. E.J. passed away July 13, 1980.
Eva was converted and baptized at a young age, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Eva was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, granny, and a friend to all. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her two children, Johnny Eugene Harris and Janie Lynn Malas.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Melisa Zaerr and her children, Faith, Jocelyn, and Erica Samer Malas and his children, Mercedes, McKenzie, Jayce, Kaitlee, and Saint; and Christy Reyes and her children, Antonio, Johnny, and Adrianna; two brothers, Norman Nelson and James Nelson and his wife, Janice; close friends, Shannon Rowden and Brandy Kight; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be 6–7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Knell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. James Lee officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery under direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
