Orval B. Stever, 88, passed away Oct. 22, 2012 in Carthage Mo.
Orval was born on July 10, 1924 in Springfield, Mo., to Jesse and Faye Marie (Carden) Stever. Orval served in the Army as a Major during World War II and the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Orval worked as a safety director for an ammunition plant in Georgia before retiring in Missouri in 1980.
Orval was united in marriage to Martha Louise Plumb on Dec. 7, 1946 in Kansas. She preceded him on May 15, 2006.
Survivors include four sons, James Alvin Stever of Hamilton, OH, Barry Alan Stever of Apple Valley, Calif., Orval Bryan Stever II of Carthage, Mo., and Richard Clay Stever of Katy, Texas; two daughters Marilyn Hirt of Westphalia, Kan., and Deborah Elaine McLaurin of Salem, Mo; and 12 grandchildren.
Orval was preceded by his parents, two sons Michael Louis Stever and Kevin Randall Stever; and one brother James Doyle Stever.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Carthage, MO. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home
