Darold M. Turner, 89, died Oct. 25, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following an illness. He was born July 31, 1923, in Granby, Mo., to Everett B. and Lena Marie (Vickory) Turner. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Turner made his career by serving in the United States Marine Corps for 26 years and upon retirement in 1969 returned to the area. He was a member of the VFW and loved to work in his yard. He was also a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin.
Darold married Betty Jean Pitts on Sept. 3, 1944, in Granby and she preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 2008. He is survived by his children; Sharon Rush of Carthage; Linda Turner of Joplin; Sunny Turner of Joplin; Betty Keller of Kansas City, Mo; two sisters; Catherine Hobby of Galena, Mo; Dorothea Little of Golden, Mo; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A full military honors funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Granby Memorial Cemetery, Granby, with Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. Friends may call from 9-9:30 a.m. Monday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
