Minnie Blanch Sargent, 85, Carthage, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following an extended illness.
Minnie was born Nov. 23, 1926, at Mindenmines, Mo., to the late Laughlin R. and Lillie B. (Ware) Blackford. She married Clayton Earl Sargent, Sr. on March 19, 1949 at Carthage, Mo. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in Carthage, and Clayton preceded her in death on May 10, 1994.
Minnie worked for Big Smith as an inspector for many years.
Minnie was converted and baptized at a young age and was a faithful Christian. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her children, Mike Sargent and his wife, Lovella, of Carthage, Mo., Clayton Sargent, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Carthage, Mo., and Blanch DeGonia of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of grandchild number 26 due to arrive in November; other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, from 6 – 7 p.m. at Knell Mortuary. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Knell Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
