Grace E. Pinkley, 82, Carthage, Mo., passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at St. Luke’s Caring Center, Carthage, following an extended illness.
Grace was born March 21, 1930 at Windyville, Mo., to the late James and Grovena (Wilson) Phillips. She grew up there and married Lloyd Pinkley on Feb. 14, 1945. Four children were born to this union. They moved to Carthage in 1951, and Lloyd preceded her in death on May 20, 2003.
Grace greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially when tending to her chickens, her flowers, and to her garden. She liked canning and taking care of her family. She was converted at an early age and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church at the time of her passing. Grace loved to sing and listen to gospel music. She was a committed Christian and always had a heart for missions. Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, Grace was preceded by a son, James Pinkley on Jan. 20, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Bob Pinkley and his wife, Susan, of Carthage, George Pinkley and his wife, Amy, Carthage, Goldie Danner and her husband, Gary, Carthage, and Krista Fowler and her husband, Scott, Duenweg, MO; two sisters, Edna Maggard and Dorothy Patrick, both of Carthage; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo. Burial will be in Reeds Cemetery under direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
