  • Jewell E. Wilkinson, 59, of Carthage went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at her home after a courageous battle with A.L.S (Lou Gehrigs Disease).  
    Jewell was born Dec. 23, 1952 in Carthage.  She was the daughter of Albert Ross Turner and Peggy “McDonald” Turner.  Jewell was a lifetime Carthage residents.  She attended Avilla Grade School and graduated from Carthage Senior High School in 1970.  Jewell was employed by Schmidt and Associates of Carthage as a payroll accountant. She was a member of Soroptimist International of Carthage, G.W.R.R.A. (Goldwing Roadriders of America) Chapter T-Pink Shirts, Southern Cruisers Riding Club and a member of Fairview Christian Church for 45 years.  Jewell took up singing later in life and sang with the Duke Mason Band and had a Friday Singing Ministry where she sang for several of the area nursing homes.  
    Jewell was united in marriage to Jeff Wilkinson on June 5, 1970 in Carthage, Mo.  He survives.
    Other survivors include two sons; Jason Wilkinson and wife Parade of Nixa, Mo., and Jared Wilkinson of Carthage, one daughter, Jami Quesenberry and husband Dustin of Webb City, Mo., two brothers, Jerry Turner and wife Donna Turner of Carthage, Mo., and Ross Turner and wife Sarah of Carthage, her mother-in-law, LeAnn Christiansen, three grandchildren, Luke and Lexa Quesenberry, Hayden Wilkinson and future granddaughter, Emersyn Jewel Wilkinson.  
    She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Rick D. Turner in November 2006.
    Jewell was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Jewell could make everyone smile and warm any heart with her angelic voice.  Jewell was a brave woman w ho was most proud of her children and grandchildren.  Jewell scooped up her grand-babies and showered them with immeasurable love.  Jewell will be missed by her family and many friends.
    Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at Fairview Christian Church in Carthage.  Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at Fairview Christian Church.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Fairview Christian Church in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
