  • Benjamin “Ben” McCoy, 25, passed away Sept. 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Mo.
    Ben was born August 30, 1987 in Joplin, Mo. to Jon McCoy and Paula “Clark” McCoy. He was a longtime Carthage resident, graduating from Carthage High School class of 2006. He loved being outside riding his bike and doing any kind of yard work and picking up walnuts. Ben loved animals, his beloved cat Lucy and two dogs, Sophie and Paige.
    Ben was an honorary Corporal Captain of the Carthage Fire Department. He attended the Crossroads Baptist Church.
    Ben is survived by his parents Jon and Paula McCoy of Carthage. One sister Jennifer McCoy (Brenda Henson) of Carthage, one brother Jon McCoy and the Late (Jessica Dodd) of Carthage. One niece Jaxyn Hermann of Carthage, Mo.; four nephews Jase Hermann of Carthage, Keagon McCoy of Carthage, Logan Dodd and Khlab Burris of Arizona; nine uncles, Jimmy Clark and the Late Peggy Clark of LaRussell, Mo., Robert Clark (Linda Faye) LaRussell, Mo., Dennis Clark (Annette) Cyril, Okla., David Clark (Susan) Tempe, AR, Phillip Clark of Joplin, Mo. Roger McCoy Carthage, Mo., Mike McCoy Carthage, Mo., Dick McCoy (Joan)Orlando, Fla., Barry McCoy(Carol) Texas, one grandma Phyllis Clark, Joplin, Mo. numerous cousins great aunts and uncles,  extended family and friends.
    Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Roland and Lujean McCoy and his maternal grandpa Jimmy T. Clark, one sister-in-Law Jessica Dodd, one uncle Jonathan Clark and two aunts, Pamela “Clark” Dickey and  Peggy Clark.
    Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 19, 2012 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 18, 2012 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Jennifer McCoy, Jon McCoy II, Jase Hermann, Brenda Henson, Jacob Nevills and Tony Triplett. Honorary pallbearers are Jaxyn Hermann and Keagon McCoy.
    Burial will be at Carterville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
