  • Margie Irene Reed, born July 21, 1910 in Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at National Health Care in Joplin, Mo. at the age of 102.

  • Margie Irene Reed, born July 21, 1910 in Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at National Health Care in Joplin, Mo. at the age of 102.
    Margie was married to Louis Reed who preceded her in death in 1963. They are survived by four children, twin daughters, Doris Youngblood of Diamond, Mo., Dorothy Cook of Neosho, Mo., and two sons, Bert Reed and wife, Mary of Claremore, Okla., and Michael Reed and wife, Debbie of Carthage, Mo. Margie was Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great-Grandma to 103 direct descendants. Margie was a lifelong resident of Carthage and she was proud of it.
    She lived in Neosho a short time before moving to NHC in 2006. While at NHC she enjoyed bingo, singing, art, and dancing when she could. She surely touched many lives and will be missed by many.
    Margie was a homemaker and later became a nurse. She was a poet; a play write; and a caregiver in her home, and she lived life to the fullest. Margie’s favorite Bible verse was the 23rd Psalm and The Lord’s Prayer. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Carthage, Mo.
    Margie’s family will gather for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.28, 2012, with her grandson, Greg Cook, and her great-grandson, Gabe Cook officiating. Friends and family are welcome at the graveside service at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Mo. under direction of Knell Mortuary.
