Justin “Jake” C. James, 64, passed away Aug. 14, 2012 at his residence.
Justin “Jake” C. James, 64, passed away Aug. 14, 2012 at his residence. Jake was born Jan. 25, 1948 in Carthage, Mo., to Justin C. James Sr. and Carrie (Green) James. Jake was a lifetime Carthage resident, he worked for the Carthage Postal Service from 1977 to 2008. He formerly worked at U.M.B. Bank and Big Smith of Carthage. He graduated from Carthage High School Class of 1968. He was a member of the Carthage Masonic Temple # 197, Abou-Ben-Adhem Shrine Temple Springfield, Mo., Carthage Shrine Club & Carthage Shrine Train crew and the Men’s Aux. V.F.W. # 2590. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and K.C. Chiefs fan. He was a sportsman who enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and bird watching and listening to Elvis. Jake took and annual deer hunting trip with his grandsons and friends. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids in all their sporting activities. Jake is survived by three daughters Kim Vincent and Dennis of Webb City, Mo., Jamie James and Tyler Hansen of Webb City, Mo., and Keri James of Webb City, Mo., one brother and three sisters Gloria Thomas and Ernie of Carthage, Ruth Ann and Bert Cartermam and Richard of Diamond, Mo., David “Dub” James and Juanita of Carthage, Mo., twin sister Janice Bastings and Danny of Carthage, Mo., four grandchildren Jerick Swarens, Klay James, Jaleigh James and Kaitlee James, one great-grandson Kyler Mallonee, several nieces and nephews. He was formerly married to Judie James of Carthage, Mo. Jake was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister Nancy. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel; visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Carthage, Mo. Contributions can be made to Shrine Club Travel Fund or the Masonic Building Fund C/O Ulmer Funeral Home.
