Lloyd E. Janes, 90, of Diamond, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 with family at his side. He was born April 4, 1922 in Ft. Scott, Kan., to the late Harold and Vivian (Pemberton) Janes. He was a graduate of Ft. Scott High School, Ft. Scott, Kan. Lloyd married Dorothy Chesney on Sept. 13, 1942 in Ft. Scott; she preceded him in death on July 8, 2010. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 – 1946, during WWII in England. He retired from Hercules, Inc. after having worked there 31 years. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and in earlier years served as a deacon and taught a Sunday School class. He was a devoted husband to his wife Dorothy during their 68 years of marriage and took care of her before she passed away. He loved working in his shop and was handy at working on projects for his children. Survivors include four children; a son, Ron (Glenda) Janes, Wamego, Kan.; three daughters; Cheryl (Bob) Talley, Diamond, Mo., Linda (Phil/Greg) McCoy, Kemp, Texas, and Kathie (Ken) Comer, Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Miner, Wichita, Kan., and a brother, Bob Janes, Decatur, Ill. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 3–4 p.m. at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Kent Hogan, Bible Baptist Church, Carthage, will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Bible Baptist Church for Missions.
