1 Rain and a controlled burn at the Carthage Recycling Center on Macon Street at the U.S. Highway 71 overpass, have allowed the Center to start accepting brush for disposal once again.
2 Public Works Director Zeb Carney said the public works department and fire department burned off some of the dry grass around the recycling center’s burn site. This plus a little bit of rain the area has received in the past few days means it is safe for the center to start burning the brush once again.
3 The recycling center also accepts glass, plastic, cardboard, paper, metal and electronics for recycling. There is a small fee for recycling electronic items. The center is open Tuesday-Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
