Cowboys from all across the nation will compete at Carthage’s three-day rodeo event on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Aug. 9-11 starting at 7:30 p.m. nightly at the Carthage Saddle Club Arena. The Carthage Stampede will showcase some of the most promising rising stars of the rodeo, riding against some of rodeo’s most famous veterans, as all the competitors’ face-off against the rankest bucking animals in the industry. The Carthage Stampede offers rodeo athletes in the region the opportunity to compete, while earning points to qualify for both the American Cowboy Rodeo Association (ACRA) and the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) finals both held in Oklahoma in the winter. Special to this year’s rodeo is $5 Night at the Rodeo on Thursday, Aug. 9. All rodeo tickets will be just $5. Regular ticket prices will be $12 for adults and $5 for kids for both Friday and Saturday night performances. The rodeo will feature mutton busting and calf scrambles for the kids and in addition to the rodeo there will also be the Coors Light Barn Dance.
