Mrs. Dorethy C. Wicklund, 93, of rural Carthage, Mo., departed this life for Heaven on Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012 after two years of declining health.
Dorethy entered this life on Aug. 5, 1918 in rural Carthage, Mo., to the late Roy and Ruth (Lundy) Grieb. Dorethy married Carl Wicklund on Feb. 15, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1985. God blessed their union with three children, Grieb Wicklund and wife, Vashti, of Carthage, Mo., Walter Wicklund and wife, Dian, also of Carthage, Mo., and Lynn Williams and husband, Stan, of Republic, Mo.
The lives of Carl and Dorethy were given purpose as they attempted to please Jesus in every area. Additional survivors include 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, with one to be born in October; two sisters, Dana Case of Jasper, Mo., and Freda Thomas of Carthage, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Dorethy was preceded in death by two brothers, JC Grieb and Ellis Grieb; and a sister, Mary Denney.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wicklund are 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the College Heights Christian Church Chapel in Joplin, Mo., located in the southwest corner of the church campus with Tom Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery near Sarcoxie, Mo.
A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Mo. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at College Heights Christian Church in Joplin, Mo., in the Atrium in the northeast corner of the church campus.
