Edith Evelyn Snell, age 88, of Carthage, Mo. passed away at 12:38 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at her home following a two-month illness.
Edith was born Feb. 15, 1924 in West Helena, Ark. She had lived in Carthage since 2000, and previously lived in Monett, Mo., for 25 years. Edith was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church of Carthage. She had been active in various women’s groups, and volunteer organizations.
Edith married Gene Snell Sept. 8, 1975 in Eureka Springs, Ark., and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Douglas Snell and wife Jeanie, Tulsa, Okla., and Mark D. Snell and wife Betty K., Bellingham, Wash., two daughters, Sonja Jean Snell, Tulsa, Okla., and Staci Ann Davidson and husband Rick, Harrison, Ark., and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage with Pastor Robert Morgan officiating. Entombment will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum in Joplin.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage. The casket will be closed at all times. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
