Clara May Gasaway, 89, Carthage, passed away June 17, 2012 in Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, after a short illness.
She was born in Boggy Depot, Joplin, Mo., on Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Frank and Martha Brock Winters.
Clara attended school in Joplin, Mo. She worked at St. John’s Hospital for approximately 30 years before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Joplin, and she was a 57-year member of Ruth Chapter #177, Order of the Easter Star, Joplin.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters; three brothers; her son-in-law, Toby Pauley; and a grandson-in-law, Mark Cummins.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Pauley, Carthage; four grandchildren; eight great-grand- children; and by four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7–8 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Knell Mortuary.
