  • Amos O. Frette, Jr., 69, passed away 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.  
    Amos was born in Kamera, Iowa, on July 2, 1942.  He was the son of Amos Orville Frette, Sr. and Sarah Easter “Hart” Frette.  Amos moved to Avilla, Mo., in 1977.  He farmed and worked at Scheiber Food for 25 years, retiring in 2005.  
    Amos grew up a farm boy and developed a passion for horses. He broke and trained many horses during his life. Amos was a farrier for many years, developing a stronger love for horses.  He loved fishing and hunting elk in the Rocky Mountains. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era for two years. Amos was a member of Risen Ranch Cowboy Church where helped with the youth in Sunday school class.
    Amos was united in marriage to Jenelle Longman on June 22, 1991.  She survives.
    Other survivors include, two sons, Jeff Wilson of Carthage and Greg Wilson of Avilla, one daughter, Samantha Norris of Iowa, one sister, Valerie Monroe of Iowa and two brothers, Ed Frette of Phoenix, Ariz., Chuck Frette of Las Vegas, Nev., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Amos was preceded in death by two sons, John Smith and Rick Frette and two sisters, Myrtle and Bonnie.
    Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Avilla Cemetery in Avilla, Mo. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Oxford Healthcare Hospice Fund or Risen Ranch Cowboy Church in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
