  • The Carthage High School wrestling program recognized five athletes Tuesday night during its annual awards banquet.
    The season concluded almost three weeks ago with the Class 3 state wrestling tournament in Columbia.
    Trevor Feagans, a junior who reached 100 career wins this season quicker than any other Carthage wrestler, finished second in the state at 132 pounds during the tournament in Columbia. On Tuesday, Feagans was recognized as the Most Valuable Wrestler for the 2011-12 season.
    Senior Larry Swinehart, another state qualifier, earned the Hustle Award. Swinehart wrestled at 160 pounds this season.
    Seth Logan, a 138-pound freshman and state qualifier, was named the Rookie of the Year.
    River Maggard, a 126-pound sophomore, earned the JV Wrestler of the Year award.
    Sophomore Blaine Perry, who wreslted at 285 pounds, was named Carthage’s Most-Improved wrestler.
