Many smiles meant many good things to come for the Carthage R-9 School District.
On Thursday, representatives from Carthage schools gathered at the Carthage Technical Center (south) with administration leaders to accept individual checks from the 2011 Major Savers fundraising campaign. Students from across the district raised $17,415 in the 2011 year, which was split between each school and the Carthage R-9 Foundation.
Students sold 400 more discount cards than last year, totaling 3,450 cards. These cards provide discounts and perks to customers of local businesses and school functions. Because of the generosity of the community and hard work of the students, the Carthage schools were able to split $8,715.
“This is a great fundraiser for the community and the foundation,” said Dr. Blaine Henningsen, superintendent for the Carthage R-9 School District. “We appreciate you all and your efforts to provide the best we can for our students.”
