  • Andrew Webb posted the best time for male runners and Michaela Ozier was the top female runner in Sunday’s 21st Annual Erick’s Run in Carthage.
    Webb finished the 5K race in 17:32, with Ozier posting a time of 20:58.
    The race has been held every year since 1992 in memory of Erick Grove, a 1990 graduate of Carthage High School who attended Southeast Missouri State University on scholarship for one year before passing away in the summer of 1992. Proceeds go toward scholarships for Tiger track and field athletes and cross country runners who exemplify Grove’s spirit as they compete at the college level.
    In the 14 and under male division, Victor Encarcion finished first with a time of 21:01, while Payton Williams followed in 22:50. A trio of Carthage High School runners finished first through third in the 15-18 male division, with Charles Whitehead running the race in 18:14, Ben Southwick running in 18:43 and Oscar Sarceno finishing in 19:18. Dustin Miller was the top finisher in the 19-29 male division with a time of 17:45. Caleb Hoover took second in 19:25, and Blake Hartman was third with a time of 24:04.
    Nathan Sicher’s time of 18:58 was good for first place among male runners in the 30-39 division, while Jake Holt finished second with a time of 19:25 and Rich Stewart took third in 20:34. Darren Collier posted a time of 28:03 for first among males age 40-49, and Mick O’Hanahan took second in 33:51. Allan Cibert finished first in the male 50-59 division with a time of 26:38. The 60+ male division belonged to Calvin Brous, who finished the race with a time of 21 minutes flat. Bill Hoover came in second in 21:17, and Don O’Donnell was third with a time of 23:02.
    Hannah Nolf was the top runner in the female 14 and under class, finishing in 31:18. Shelby Teegarden and Allison Fix tied for first in the female 15-18 division, finishing in 25 minutes, and Emily Berry was third in 40:14. Joanna Lee won the female 19-29 division with a time of 25 minutes even, Megan Scott was second with a time of 30:23, and Lydia O’Donnell finished third in 30:43.
    The female 30-39 division belonged to Marissa Forth, who ran the race in 21:12. Lisa O’Hanahan took second in 26:58, and Cara Borland was third in 27:07. Stacy Phillips won the female 40-49 division with a time of 28:10, Gina Kilpatrick was second in 28:30 and Carol Stark finished third in 32:07. Kathy Ritchhart finished first among female runners age 50-59, posting a time of 26:20, Mary Chenoweth was second in 35:11 and Janet Cibert’s 38:08 was good for third place. Becky Mitchell posted the fastest time for female runners age 60 and up, finishing the race in 37:33.
