Pau D’Arco tea, derived from the rain forests of South America, is one of the best known herbs used by the Indios, the Aztecs and Incas for centuries. This tea has been the cornerstone in the tribal healing traditions of that area. Pau D’Arco, most often, is used as a whole herb to treat infections and cancer, most generally.

Taheebo or Lapacho, known as the inner bark, has been traditionally used to treat a wide variety of conditions, both internally and externally. Some sectors of mainstream medicine have validated its efficacy with its chief properties being antibiotic, anti-fungal and anti-tumor.

The tea contains such chemical compounds as Lapachol, Lapachone and Isolapachas, but many herbalists attribute its healing success to its tannins.

The following are some of PDA’s more well-known health benefits:

PDA can be used by itself or to compliment treatment towards tumor reduction and suppression PDA appears to increase the production of red blood cells, and looks to be a promising agent in the treatment and/or management of leukemia, anemia and numerous other blood disorders PDA can be used to treat constipation PDA can be used to treat colds, allergies, flu, sore throat and yeast infections PDA seems to offer protection against tropical diseases such as malaria and schistosomiasis PDA also heals/relieves ulcers PDA works against bacteria such as aspergillus, staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, helioactor pylori, bucella, tuberculosis, pneumonia and dysentery

Professional Testimonial

According to Dr. Daniel B. Mowrey, in a single, clinical study, South American researchers administered Lapachol (PDA) to patients with various forms of cancer, inclusive of Aden carcinoma of the liver, breast and prostate, and squamous carcinoma of the palate and uterine cervix. When taken orally, as described by Dr. Mowrey, the substance resulted in temporary reduction of all conditions and in a significant reduction in pain.  Treatment duration was anywhere from 30-720 days with an average being two months. For example, one patient with liver cancer presented with a significant reduction in jaundice accompanied by other signs of improvement after only eight days of treatment.

Other documented actions by traditional use of PDA appears to show that it is hepatotonic — something which tones, balances and improves or strengthens general liver health and function. As it is also an immunostimulant, which, in turn, strengthens and stimulates the immune system which can prevent liver disease.  Many of the other treatments for the diseases that PDA cures will have a side effect of liver toxosis, whereas PDA treatment enhances overall liver health.

Caution

This is a strong medicine and PDA should not be taken without the permission of your doctor or pharmacist. If you take other herbs, regularly, consult your herbalist or Naturopath about taking PDA with other herbs.
