Barbara Fay Simmons, 75, Carthage, Mo., passed away Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.  

Barbara Fay Jordan was born July 17, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Noel Humphrey Jordan and Thelma Lorraine (Snider) Jordan.  She was a high school graduate and married Donald Gene Simmons, former Carthage Fire Chief, on April 12, 1953, in Webb City, Mo. She was payroll clerk for Atlas Powder/ICI for 22 years and after retirement was a part-time employee for Carthage Hardware. Barbara was an active member of Business Women of Missouri since 1977, and was past President in 1996/1997.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, Webb City, Mo., and the McCune-Brooks Hospital Auxilary.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Lance) Duncan, Webb City; two sons, Don (Mary) Simmons, Denver, Colo., and Doug (Elizabeth) Simmons, Carthage; one sister, Phyllis McDonnell, Carthage; two brothers, Larry Jordan, Carthage and David Jordan, Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6– 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Scholarship Fund of Carthage Business Women of Missouri, 608 E. 14th St., Carthage, Mo., 64836.  

Graveside services will be held at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
