The 2009-2010 Boy’s Spring River Valley All Conference teams were announced recently. 


Leading the Boy’s 1st team this year were Miller Cardinal junior Justin Jack, who was the conference Most Valuable Player, fellow teammates senior Derek Jack and junior Tyler Hinshaw.

Leading the Boy’s 1st team this year were Miller Cardinal junior Justin Jack, who was the conference Most Valuable Player, fellow teammates senior Derek Jack and junior Tyler Hinshaw. 

“Those three kind of ran the show,” said Miller Head Coach Ryan Stokes. “They all led the team like they were seniors and gave great leadership on the court.”

The Cardinals finished the year with a 9-0 conference record to win their second straight Spring River Valley championship. 

Others making 1st team honors were seniors Jordan Bryant and Jason Anderson of the Greenfield Wildcats, senior Zac Short of the Liberal Bulldogs. Liberal finished with a 6-3 record in conference play and finished in a three-way tie for second place with Lockwood and Greenfield. 

Rounding out the first team senior Blake Abbiatti of Lockwood, Robert Baldwin of Pierce City, and two seniors Jesse Hodge and Matt Newman of Jasper. 

Second team honors were also handed out in the SRVC. Sophomore Kyle Henman and Jared Huffman helped Diamond to a 5-4 conference record and a tie for third place. 

Others making second team were senior Cody Roller of Golden City, senior Raleigh Neher of Jasper, senior Bryce Robertson and junior Wade Sprenkle of Liberal, junior Brady Sears of Lockwood, senior Zack Eaton out of Miller, and sophomore Wayne Joe Sooter and Derek Turner of Pierce City. 

Coach of the year honors went to Jim Scott of Lockwood. Scott led his Tigers to a 6-3 record.
