- The Maple Leaf Safety Fair attracted dozens of people to see fire and emergency rescue equipment from half a dozen fire departments and other agencies in Carthage on Saturday. (Above) The MedFlight medical helicopter takes off from the Maple Leaf Safety Fair on Saturday at the Carthage Fire Department Parking Lot. (Top) Carthage Fire Lieutenant Eli Maples works with Levi Mitchell, 4, to spray targets with a water hose at the Fair, held at the Carthage Fire Station. The event kicked off the annual Fire Prevention Week, when firefighters across the country fan out to educate as many people as they can on fire safety.
